CBSE Class 10 Second Board Exam Results: CBSE Class 10 students are awaiting the results of the second board examination. Meanwhile, two questions are on the minds of lakhs of students: When will the CBSE Class 10 second board exam results be declared? And which marksheet will be valid once the results are out? There is considerable uncertainty regarding this second question. Students rely on this marksheet to secure admission into their preferred stream in Class 11 and, subsequently, into colleges.
Many students worry that if they retake the exam to improve their scores but—for some reason—end up with lower marks than before, their entire academic year might be wasted. Or, will they be forced to accept the marksheet with the lower score? If you have similar concerns, there is no need to worry. To alleviate stress, CBSE has formulated student-friendly rules regarding marksheet validity. Find out when the CBSE Class 10 results are likely to be declared and how the marksheet system works.
When will the CBSE Class 10 second board exam results be declared?
Answer sheets were evaluated rapidly following the conclusion of the CBSE Class 10 second board exams. The exams were held between May 15, 2026, and May 21, 2026. In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE conducted Class 10 board exams twice for the first time. Over 5 lakh students appeared for the CBSE Class 10 second board exam this year, and everyone is now awaiting the results. According to media reports, the results for the second board exam could be released at any moment.
Which CBSE marksheet will be valid?
Many students want to know: since the exam was held twice and results will be declared twice, which marksheet will be considered valid? If you are wondering the same, it is important to understand the CBSE rule:
If marks improve: If you took the second board exam and secured higher marks than in the first exam, the marksheet from the second board exam will be the one considered valid. Your higher marks will be considered final.
If marks decrease: For instance, if you initially scored 60 in a subject but your score dropped to 55 upon retaking the exam, the original marksheet remains valid. In other words, CBSE retains the 'best score' (the higher marks) to ensure you do not suffer any disadvantage.
Your academic year will not be wasted even if marks are lower.
The biggest advantage of CBSE’s 'best-of-two' policy is that a student does not lose an academic year even if their marks decrease. The Central Board of Secondary Education believes that the purpose of an examination is to provide opportunities to students, not to jeopardize their careers. Therefore, regardless of the outcome of the CBSE Class 10 second board exam, you will be able to use the marksheet reflecting the higher score.
How to get the digital marksheet on DigiLocker?
The results of the CBSE Class 10 second board exam will be released on the official website, cbseresults.nic.in. Shortly thereafter, your new digital marksheet will be uploaded to DigiLocker. Students can download their valid digital marksheet by logging in using their registered mobile number and Aadhaar card. This marksheet is accepted for admission purposes everywhere. The hard copy will be distributed later through schools.
