Bruno Guimaraes has once again been linked with a potential exit from Newcastle United during the upcoming summer transfer window.

As reported by the Shields Gazette, both Arsenal and Manchester United are showing strong interest in securing the services of the 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder. However, Newcastle United have made it clear that they have no intention of approving his sale.

Guimaraes is regarded as one of the most indispensable players in Eddie Howe’s squad, often being one of the first names on the team sheet. Losing him would represent a significant setback for the Magpies, who are determined to continue building a side capable of contending for major honours. For a club with such ambitions, parting ways with one of the Premier League’s top performers is simply not an option.

In addition to his club contributions, Guimaraes has also been in superb form for Brazil at the ongoing World Cup, where he currently leads the tournament in assists. Notably, he delivered a decisive assist against Japan in the knockout stage, helping his national team progress to the round of 16.

Unless the player himself pushes for a move, Arsenal and Manchester United are expected to find it extremely challenging to complete a transfer for him this summer.

Both English giants are in need of reinforcements in central midfield, with Guimaraes seen as a player who could bring control, calmness, and creativity to their setups. Having already adapted seamlessly to life in the Premier League, the Brazilian could significantly elevate either side’s quality in midfield. At 28, he is in the prime of his career, and it remains to be seen whether he would be tempted by a switch to a Champions League-level club.

It is also worth noting that when Newcastle acquired Guimaraes from Lyon, the French outfit included a sell-on clause in his contract. This stipulates that Newcastle must pay 20% of any profit from his future transfer to Lyon. Consequently, a potential sale would see Newcastle lose out on a substantial sum in profits.

This financial factor, combined with the player’s importance to the squad, is likely to make Newcastle even more reluctant to part ways with him. The situation is undoubtedly a major setback for both Arsenal and Manchester United, who had been hopeful of adding the talented midfielder to their ranks this summer.
