Jurgen Klopp has firmly dismissed rumours linking him to the Germany national football team job following the country's disappointing exit from the World Cup.
With Julian Nagelsmann’s future under mounting pressure after Germany’s latest setback, Klopp had been widely mentioned as one of the top candidates to replace the current head coach. However, the former Liverpool manager has made it clear that he has no interest in returning to management.
Currently serving as Red Bull’s Global Head of Football, Klopp has previously explained that he stepped away from coaching to escape the unrelenting demands of the job.
Although leading a national side typically involves a less intense daily workload than club management, the 59-year-old is said to have no inclination to take over the German national team at this point in his career.
Speaking to MagentaTV, where he has been working as a pundit during the tournament, Klopp said: “I haven’t thought about that yet.”
He added: “I have often been in that situation myself as a coach, when a big dream suddenly ends.”
“I understand that when people discuss the national team coach position, my name comes up. But it’s not the right moment to talk about it, especially not with me.”
“I have a job that I truly enjoy. And as far as I know, it’s not a part-time job. The fact is, Germany were knocked out today, and this is not the time for me to be thinking about Jurgen Klopp’s future.”
