Luxury has always been about racing to extraordinary heights, and it feels like Swiss luxury watch maison Rolex took it very seriously. Rolex is now nestled amidst the breathtaking peaks of the Swiss Alps and has unveiled the world’s highest luxury watch boutique, transforming the alpine destination into an exclusive haven for the haute horlogerie enthusiasts.
This retail space celebrates Swiss craftsmanship, offering collectors an experience where landscapes meet exceptional watchmaking with a taste of engineering and timeless elegance. By bringing fine timepieces closer to the roof of Europe, the maison redefined what it means to experience luxury at its peak.
Rolex unveiled the world’s highest boutique at the retail space inside the Titlis Tower, which is a striking mountain-top destination on Mount Titlis near Engelberg, Switzerland. With the help of cable cars, one can climb from the valley floor into the heart of the mighty Alps.
Located at an altitude of 3,020 metres, the new Rolex boutique operated by Bucherer was bought originally in 2023. However, the visitors began their journey in the resort town of Engelberg before taking the TITLIS Xpress gondola to the Stand station.
From there, they transfer to the famous Titlis Rotair,** the world’s first rotating cable car, which slowly revolves during the ascent, offering 360-degree views of glaciers, cliffs and snowfields before arriving at the summit. Only then do they reach the Rolex boutique.
How does it look?
Covering just over 21,000 sq. ft., this boutique features contemporary luxury alongside elements from nature. The centrepiece of the boutique is a gigantic stone table meticulously chiselled and crafted into large-scale “artwork” at the touch of a finger! There are also walls built from American walnut that provide warmth throughout the store and complement the luxurious construction materials.
Additionally, the Verdi Alpi marble found in various areas of the store has rich emerald-coloured veins representing Rolex’s longstanding association with the sea. Other floor and seating materials used throughout the boutique are oak, or finished in various colours, such as appendages, upholstery, and green and beige leather—making everything seem elegant.
Can you actually buy a Rolex there?
Yes, the boutique carries a limited supply of Rolex watches selected for the store; as with all Rolex retailers, availability will depend on stock and demand. Visit the Alps and you will find a unique way to look at luxury watches from approximately 10,000 feet in the air.
For most customers visiting the boutique for the first time, it is more than just shopping; it is the experience of being at what is considered the highest Rolex boutique in the world, a place only reachable through stunning scenery in some of Europe’s greatest mountain terrain.
