France beats Sweden 3-0 in pre-quarterfinals with Mbappe’s two goals

Thanks to two brilliant goals from star striker Kylian Mbappe, France on Tuesday defeated Sweden 3-0 in the round of 32 match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and made it to the pre-quarterfinals. In this match played at MetLife Stadium, France maintained dominance from beginning to end.

France got its first goal in the last moments of the first half. In the 45th minute, Kylian Mbappe gave the team a 1-0 lead with a brilliant finish and the score remained the same till half time.

France continued its aggressive play in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Bradley Barcola increased the lead to 2-0 by scoring a goal on an excellent pass from Michael Olise.

After this, in the 74th minute, Mbappe sealed France’s victory by scoring his second goal. With this goal he took his total number of goals in the tournament to 18.

France’s strong defensive line thwarted Sweden’s attacks throughout the match and did not give the opposition any major chances to score.

With this spectacular victory, France entered the Round of 16 of the World Cup, while Sweden’s campaign ended.
