Bank Holiday: The month of July has begun, and the list of bank holidays for this month has been released. This list is issued by the RBI, and banks and their branches are required to adhere to it. The RBI's list takes into account festivals and holidays specific to different states. If you are planning to visit a bank for any work, you should check the holiday schedule.
Banks will be closed on July 6. However, they will also be closed the day before—on Sunday. Banks will remain closed on July 6 only in certain areas. Banks observe a weekly holiday on Sundays. Additionally, they remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. These rules apply nationwide, meaning public sector, private, and foreign banks must all comply with this RBI regulation.
There will be a holiday in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, on July 6. Mizoram observes July 6 as MHIP Day, a holiday for banks; they will remain closed on this occasion this year as well. Banks in Shillong will be closed on July 9. In Meghalaya, banks close for the festival of Behdienkhlam, which falls on July 9.
Banks will also be closed in several areas on July 16. They will remain closed in Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Imphal, and Shillong on this day due to local festivals. For instance, the Rath Yatra is organized in Bhubaneswar on this day, and banks remain closed for the occasion. Local festivals are also observed in other states on this day.
In July, Sundays fall on the 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th; all bank branches will remain closed on these days. Bank branches will also be closed on July 11 and July 25, as these dates fall on Saturdays. Banks observe holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
Due to these bank holidays, depositors will not be able to withdraw or deposit money; they will have to wait until the following day. However, you can complete essential tasks on the working day before the holiday. Moreover, many services are now available at bank ATMs as well; bank ATMs remain operational even on holidays.
