Trevoh Chalobah has reportedly chosen to prioritise a move to Italy even though he has drawn attention from several Premier League sides. Inter Milan are advancing discussions regarding personal terms, while Chelsea could potentially include the defender in talks with Crystal Palace as they pursue Maxence Lacroix during the summer transfer window.

Inter Milan emerge as Chalobah’s preferred destination

According to reports, Chalobah has made up his mind to continue his football career in Serie A, with Inter Milan currently leading the chase for the Chelsea centre-back. As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old’s representatives are presently in Milan to negotiate personal terms, confirming Inter’s position as the front-runners for his signature.

Meanwhile, Como remain interested in securing Chalobah’s services but have already seen a £22 million bid rejected by Chelsea. The Blues are believed to value the defender at approximately £35 million, a price that may make it challenging for the Lariani to proceed and could further strengthen Inter’s standing in the race.

Pursuing a swap deal

The transfer situation has taken another turn following reports from talkSPORT suggesting Chelsea have offered Chalobah to Crystal Palace as part of broader negotiations. The Blues are keen to bring in Palace’s star defender Maxence Lacroix, and to make the deal more appealing, Chelsea are reportedly open to including Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi, or Benoit Badiashile in the potential package.

Chalobah is already well known at Selhurst Park, having spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan with the Eagles. He impressed significantly under manager Oliver Glasner before being recalled to Stamford Bridge during an injury crisis at Chelsea.

Chelsea balance squad planning and financial management

As a product of Chelsea’s academy, any transfer fee received for Chalobah would represent pure profit under the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), making his sale financially beneficial as the club continues to rebuild its squad. Crystal Palace’s interest is understandable, given his strong performances during his loan spell. However, Chalobah’s reported preference for a move to Italy could create complications for any attempt to re-sign him on a permanent deal at Selhurst Park.

Transfer discussions continue as England duty takes focus

Chalobah is currently part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad at the 2026 World Cup while talks regarding his club future remain ongoing. Although he has yet to feature in the tournament, a series of injuries within the squad could increase his chances of appearing in the upcoming round of 16 clash against Mexico.

Beyond his international commitments, Chelsea are expected to continue negotiating a deal that aligns with their valuation, with Inter Milan, Como, and Crystal Palace all still in contention as the defender’s long-term future is determined.
