Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering a move for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as they plan to reinvest the record-breaking funds earned from Elliot Anderson’s transfer. The Liverpool academy product is said to be seeking a new challenge away from Anfield this summer, aiming for more consistent first-team opportunities under a new managerial setup.

Forest are believed to have entered the race for the Liverpool star as part of their efforts to replace Anderson following his record £116 million switch to Manchester City. The Midlands club are assessing the possibility of signing Jones, a player who could bring creativity and dynamism to their midfield. According to TeamTalk, the 23-year-old is open to a fresh start despite the arrival of Andoni Iraola at Anfield.

The potential signing comes during a transformative period for Nottingham Forest after the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their new head coach. Glasner, who is returning to the Premier League to replace Vitor Pereira, is expected to reshape the squad in line with his high-intensity, pressing-based philosophy. A player like Jones, who thrives on energy and technical skill, could fit seamlessly into the Austrian's tactical vision.

Departing manager Vitor Pereira, who successfully guided Forest to top-flight safety last season, expressed his disappointment at the timing of his exit. He said, “Although this decision came as a complete surprise to me and without any warning, I fully respect the club’s right to make the decisions it believes are best for its future. Naturally, I am disappointed and saddened.”

Meanwhile, Inter Milan have also shown strong interest in Jones but have struggled to reach an agreement with Liverpool over the transfer fee. The Serie A champions have had two bids turned down, the latest understood to be around £21 million. Liverpool, however, are holding firm, valuing the midfielder between £35 million and £40 million — a price the Italian club is currently reluctant to meet given that Jones is entering the final year of his contract.

Despite Jones’s inclination to move on, Liverpool’s ownership group, Fenway Sports Group, are under no obligation to reduce their asking price. The club’s executives believe their valuation is fair, especially in light of the escalating market prices for homegrown midfielders across the Premier League.

For Jones, the decision now lies between a switch to Italy’s iconic San Siro or the opportunity to become a central figure in Glasner’s revamped Nottingham Forest side as they look to build on last season’s progress in the Premier League.
