Manchester United are reportedly preparing to test Bournemouth’s determination to keep hold of Alex Scott, even as the Cherries continue to maintain that the young midfielder is not available for transfer.
Scott, who has attracted attention from several top Premier League sides, has recently emerged as a prime target for Manchester United. The Red Devils have shifted their focus towards the 22-year-old in the past few days.
Having missed out on Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson, who joined Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City respectively, United are now exploring the possibility of securing a deal for Scott.
According to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Manchester United have already made direct contact with Bournemouth to discuss the club’s valuation and potential terms for the player this summer.
Bournemouth, however, remain firm in their stance. The club has placed a valuation exceeding £60 million on Scott and considers him a crucial part of their squad at The Vitality Stadium. Reports suggest that Bournemouth are working to offer Scott an improved contract that includes a release clause, in an effort to persuade him to commit his long-term future to the club.
Despite Bournemouth’s refusal to sell, Manchester United are said to be preparing a formal offer. Under Michael Carrick’s management, United are keen to strengthen their midfield options as part of a wider squad rebuild. The club has already reached an agreement worth €40 million with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, and they intend to sign at least one more central midfielder before the transfer window closes.
