As officially confirmed by the club, Bazoumana Touré has departed Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim to complete a move to Premier League club Newcastle United. The pacey winger joins the Magpies at St. James’ Park for a club-record transfer fee, reported to be approximately €50 million.
“Since joining us from Sweden in February 2025, Bazou has shown remarkable growth – much of which can be credited to the coaching team led by Chris Ilzer. His contributions were vital in achieving the second-best season in the club’s history,” stated Hoffenheim’s sporting director Andreas Schicker.
He added, “Naturally, we would have loved to keep Bazou at the club. However, it aligns with TSG’s philosophy and long-term vision to identify highly talented players, nurture them alongside our coaching staff, and help them take the next step to the top level of football. We sincerely wish Bazou every success in his career ahead and all the best as he takes on the challenge of the Premier League.”
Touré’s transfer surpasses the fee Newcastle paid for Joelinton in the summer of 2019, making the Ivorian winger the most expensive outgoing transfer in Hoffenheim’s history.
Reflecting on his time with the Kraichgau side, Touré expressed his gratitude: “TSG was like a family to me. We shared wonderful and successful moments together, during which I was able to grow both as a player and as a person. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and every individual at the club, as well as the fans, from the bottom of my heart.”
He continued, “I’m very excited about the challenge that lies ahead in the Premier League, but TSG will always remain close to my heart.”
