Atalanta midfielder Ederson is preparing to undergo a second medical examination in the United Kingdom before his anticipated transfer to Manchester United, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United have already agreed to a €45 million deal for the 26-year-old Brazilian and previously completed an initial round of medical assessments in the United States.

Despite having reached a verbal agreement, no official contract has been signed yet. The Red Devils are seeking further medical evaluations as part of their due diligence before finalising the move.

Following Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16 of the World Cup last night, Ederson is now expected to travel to England to complete the additional checks.

Although speculation suggested that the transfer might have collapsed, those reports have been dismissed. The midfielder’s move is still on track but remains contingent on the outcome of the second medical examination.

During the World Cup, Ederson made two appearances, featuring as a substitute against Haiti and Norway. He was a late addition to Brazil’s squad after injuries disrupted Carlo Ancelotti’s final selection plans.

The Atalanta star will be hoping that the upcoming tests proceed smoothly, paving the way for him to complete his move to Manchester United in the coming days.

Manchester United have yet to secure any new signings this summer, but they have parted ways with Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho.

Rasmus Hojlund has completed a £38 million transfer to Napoli after his loan spell last season, while goalkeeper Andre Onana has rejoined Trabzonspor on loan.

If all goes as planned, Ederson could become Manchester United’s first signing of the summer, as manager Michael Carrick aims to make a strong start in his first full season at the helm.
