Lifestyle Desk: While the rainy season brings relief from the heat, it also brings with it many problems. The biggest problem among these is mosquitoes growing rapidly in homes. Due to accumulation of water at various places during rains, the number of mosquitoes increases, due to which the risk of serious diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya increases manifold.
In such a situation, most of the people use mosquito repellent liquid, coil or spray available in the market to stay away from mosquitoes. However, the smoke and chemicals emanating from them can be harmful for children, elderly and asthma or allergy patients if inhaled for a long time. The good thing is that mosquitoes can be kept away with the help of some natural things present in the house. Let us know about it in detail.
Neem oil and camphor mixture
Neem has natural anti-bacterial and insect repellent properties. To keep mosquitoes away, mix a little camphor in two to three spoons of neem oil and keep it in a small vessel or spread its fragrance in the room with the help of a diffuser. Its smell helps keep mosquitoes away.
use garlic
Mosquitoes do not like the strong smell of garlic. For this, boil some garlic cloves in water and cool this water and fill it in a spray bottle. It can be sprinkled in the corners of the room, around windows and doors. This can help in reducing the number of mosquitoes.
Easy solution of lemon and cloves
This is a very popular home remedy. Cut a lemon from the middle, put 8 to 10 cloves in it and keep it in a corner of the room or near a window. The combined aroma of lemon and cloves is considered helpful in keeping mosquitoes away. It should be changed every two to three days.
keep basil plant
Tulsi plant not only has religious and medicinal importance, but its fragrance also helps in keeping mosquitoes away. Planting a Tulsi plant near the balcony, window or main door of the house can reduce the entry of mosquitoes to some extent. Apart from this, basil leaves can also be boiled in water and used as a spray.
Uses of Mint and Lemongrass
Mosquitoes also do not like the scent of mint and lemongrass. Spray can be prepared by mixing a few drops of their essential oil in water. If you want, you can put a few drops of oil on a cotton ball and keep it in the room.
Keep these things in mind also
1-Home remedies will be effective only when cleanliness in and around the house is also taken care of. Do not allow water to accumulate for a long time anywhere in coolers, pots, buckets and on the roof.
2- Keep doors and windows closed or put nets on them in the evening. Using a mosquito net while sleeping is also a safe and effective method.
3. Instead of relying only on repellents to protect yourself from mosquitoes during the rainy season, making natural remedies and cleanliness a part of your daily routine can be a better option. However, if anyone at home notices high fever, body ache or symptoms like dengue and malaria, one should immediately contact a doctor instead of relying on home remedies.
