Yamaha had showcased its electric scooter, the Aerox-E, to the public last year. The electric scooter has now been officially launched in the market at a price of Rs 2.82 lakh (ex-showroom). It is Yamaha’s second electric scooter in the market and also the most expensive scooter in its lineup.
The exterior design of the Aerox-E is similar to that of the Aerox 155, as Yamaha has retained the maxi-scooter styling. The scooter comes with dual LED headlamps, an X-shaped central spine, a sleek rear section with LED tail lamps and turn indicators, and more. The Aerox-E features telescopic front forks, twin rear shock absorbers, 14-inch alloy wheels, disc brakes at both ends, and single-channel ABS.
The electric scooter from Yamaha comes with a colour TFT display featuring smartphone connectivity, weather updates, call and SMS alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation. Although it is the electric version of the Aerox, it certainly doesn’t look like an afterthought, at least from the official images.

The body panels and wiring have been neatly integrated, making it look like a thoroughly developed product. Since this is an electric vehicle, the obvious question that comes to mind is: where is the battery pack?
The Yamaha Aerox-E comes with two 1.5 kWh battery packs placed under the seat. Both batteries are removable and are paired with an electric motor that generates 12.9 PS and 48 Nm of peak torque. The scooter has a top speed of 96 kmph, and with this setup, the Yamaha Aerox-E offers a claimed riding range of 117 km. At 139 kg, the electric version is 13 kg heavier than the regular Aerox 155.
The scooter also comes with multiple riding modes, including Eco, Standard, and Power. Yamaha is additionally offering a Boost mode, which provides short bursts of extra power for quicker overtakes.
The Yamaha Aerox-E is currently available in a single variant, and the price ranges from Rs 2.81 lakh to Rs 2.82 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the location. At present, Yamaha is offering the scooter in Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai. The company is expected to expand availability to more cities in the future.
We already know that Yamaha and Bengaluru-based electric scooter manufacturer River Mobility are involved in a strategic partnership aimed at developing and manufacturing premium electric scooters. The first scooter to emerge from this partnership is the Yamaha EC-06, which is based on River’s Indie electric scooter. Yamaha’s version is expected to be more premium, sportier, and more compact than the River Indie.
The newly launched Aerox-E, however, is a completely different product. It has been entirely developed in-house by Yamaha, and the company has positioned it as a premium electric scooter. That is probably why Yamaha has launched it with a premium price tag. The Aerox-E competes with rivals such as the TVS X and the Ather 450 Apex, both of which are priced lower than Yamaha’s new offering.
