Ivan Provedel has officially completed his move to Inter Milan, joining the club as their new goalkeeper in a transfer worth €3 million from Lazio. However, it remains uncertain when he will be fit to make his debut for the Nerazzurri.
The 32-year-old underwent his medical examinations earlier today and was cleared to finalise a contract that will keep him at the San Siro until June 2029.
Provedel was reportedly eager to seize this opportunity, having been an ardent Inter supporter since his childhood.
The Italian shot-stopper is expected to compete with Josep Martinez for the starting position this season, following the departure of Swiss veteran Yann Sommer.
Provedel began his football journey in the youth setups of Udinese and Chievo before representing several clubs including Perugia, Pisa, Modena, Juve Stabia, Pro Vercelli, and Empoli. His performances at Spezia eventually earned him a €2.55 million move to Lazio in the summer of 2022.
Unfortunately, his 2023–24 season was cut short after sustaining a serious shoulder injury in March, which required surgery. At that time, reports suggested he would not return to action until late August, meaning Inter may need to be patient before seeing him in goal.
Although he has been a regular member of Italy’s senior national team squad, Provedel is yet to make his debut appearance for the Azzurri.
Lazio expressed their gratitude to the goalkeeper with a farewell message: “Thank you for all the memories, Ivan. Wishing you every success in the future.”
