Nissan India, in just a short while, will officially launch the much-anticipated Tekton mid-size SUV. However, just before the official launch of this SUV, the company has announced the launch timeline of the upcoming 7-seater version of the Tekton. It has been mentioned that the longer three-row sibling of the Tekton will be making its official debut in India by Q1 of 2027.
While speaking at the launch event of the Nissan Tekton, Guillaume Cartier, Chief Performance Officer, Nissan Motor Corporation, has announced that the 7-seater version of the Tekton will be launched in India in the first quarter of 2027. The exact launch date has not been announced by Cartier. However, we can expect it to make its debut between January and March 2027.
At the moment, the company has not revealed the name of the upcoming 7-seater iteration of the Tekton. However, what we do know is that it will boast a much longer wheelbase than the standard Tekton. This additional wheelbase will help in increasing the legroom inside the SUV and make it easier to accommodate a third row of seats.
Apart from the elongated wheelbase, the Tekton 7-seater will also be getting a few different exterior design elements as well. Overall, it will retain the “Baby Patrol” styling like the standard model. However, it will get a different front and rear bumper, different alloy wheels, and some other minor changes to differentiate it from its 5-seater sibling.
On the inside, we can expect the Tekton 7-seater to boast the same cabin layout as the standard Tekton. This means we will be seeing a cockpit-like, driver-focused dashboard with a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system in a single bezel, which will give it a premium appearance.
We can also expect this longer SUV to get the same features as well. This means its list of equipment will include a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, and ventilated front seats. Also, to create a distinction, Nissan could also offer the SUV a different color scheme for leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching. Other notable highlights could include automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, rear-seat privacy curtains, and more.
Coming to the powertrain side of things, we can expect the Tekton 7-seater SUV to come offered with the same 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, three-cylinder motor. This engine will be capable of making 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the other more powerful engine option will be the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol, four-cylinder engine, which will make 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque.
The 1.0-litre engine will most likely only be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol will be offered with both a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Most likely, Nissan will not be offering the Tekton 7-seater with the 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine as the Duster. This is because the same has been confirmed for the standard Tekton.
In terms of the pricing, Nissan is expected to price the Tekton 7-seater SUV in the range of Rs 18 to 22 lakh in India. This will help it in undercutting the pricing of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari, along with the Hyundai Alcazar. Presently, Nissan does not offer any SUV which competes in the 7-seater segment, and the launch of the Tekton 7-seater will help it in tapping into this increasingly popular segment.
