Saudi discussions with Iran and America

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan spoke on phone with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on July 10, 2026. In this conversation, the situation after the recent attacks by America on Iran and the increasing unrest in the region was discussed.

On the same day, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the US Princess Reema bint Bandar met US Secretary Rubio. In this meeting, the strong relations between the two countries were reiterated and emphasis was laid on working together for regional security. Some people believe that now Saudi’s influence on America’s Iran policy has decreased due to talks taking place at the ambassadorial level instead of directly between foreign ministers.

Tension in the Strait of Hormuz and Trump’s statement

This entire incident happened when Iran attacked commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and in response America also attacked Iranian targets. President Donald Trump clearly said on July 10 that the ceasefire with Iran is now over, although he also said that America will keep the path of negotiations open.

Countries like Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye are also trying to reduce this tension and restart talks.

Defense cooperation with Canada

Amidst regional tensions, Saudi Arabia also strengthened its other international relationships. Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met Canadian Defense Minister David McGuinty on July 10. In this meeting, relations between Saudi and Canada, defense cooperation and changes happening in the world were discussed.
