Marc Guehi and Declan Rice have given England a major lift after both players took part in training ahead of the FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash against Norway in Miami.

Guehi had been struggling with a hamstring issue, while Rice was recovering from a stomach bug that he caught following England’s victory over Mexico last weekend.

However, both players were seen training with the full squad at Inter Miami’s facilities on the eve of the last-eight encounter, in what will be a welcome boost to manager Thomas Tuchel.

It was Rice’s first session in a couple of days after he overcame the illness that had kept him sidelined briefly earlier in the week.

Tuchel received more positive news as Reece James also joined the training session while continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury, and he now appears likely to be available for selection against Norway.

Jordan Henderson was the only absentee from the session as he starts rehabilitation from wrist surgery following an unfortunate fall during the celebrations after the famous win at the Estadio Azteca. Despite being ruled out, Henderson has travelled with the squad to Miami to provide support from the sidelines.

England returned to Florida for the first time since their pre-tournament preparations, facing intense heat during training. The players trained in temperatures reaching 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity making the conditions feel even hotter.

These testing weather conditions are something the team had been preparing for, especially as their previous fixtures were played either indoors or in wet conditions. The squad will now look to adapt quickly as they focus on securing a semi-final spot at the tournament.
