William Saliba and Dayot Upamecano Miss France Training Ahead of World Cup Semi-Final Clash

After being given a day off following their World Cup quarter-final victory over Morocco, the French national team resumed training on Saturday afternoon at their base camp located in the western part of Boston.

Kylian Mbappé, who had limped off during the latter stages of Thursday’s encounter due to an ankle issue, was spotted warming up and taking part in full training as usual.

The French captain, who netted the opening goal against the Atlas Lions just after the hour mark, had spoken in the mixed zone post-match and reassured reporters that the knock he sustained was nothing serious. Aurélien Tchouaméni, who had missed the quarter-final with a thigh injury, was also back in action during the session.

However, France’s regular central defensive duo were both absent from the session. William Saliba has been managing a persistent back problem throughout the tournament and has already missed several training sessions as the coaching staff aim to preserve his fitness for matchdays.

Dayot Upamecano was also rested, with French outlet L’Équipe reporting that the Bayern Munich defender was kept out for load management purposes. He has reportedly been dealing with discomfort in his foot. Despite these concerns, both players are anticipated to return in time for the semi-final showdown against Spain.

Les Bleus will hold another training session on Sunday morning before flying out to Dallas later in the afternoon.
