Following the fifth T20I match in Southampton, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer commended England's impressive performance while pinpointing the team's tendency to lose wickets in 'clusters' as a critical factor in their defeat.

In his post-match comments, Iyer noted the Indian squad's modified batting strategy while pursuing a daunting target of 258 runs. He acknowledged that poor fielding significantly impacted the outcome, praising England's wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and captain Harry Brook for their pivotal roles in the match.

Iyer stated, 'There are many lessons to learn from this series regarding conditions, awareness, and adaptability. This pitch was the best we played on, and our batting approach varied. The conditions evolved throughout the series, and we must remain vigilant and adaptable as professionals. Effective communication about our shortcomings is essential. Fielding is crucial, and we need to improve in that area.'

'Especially when playing overseas, where ground dimensions differ. We dropped crucial catches that could have changed the game; we might have chased down 220-225 runs, but it wasn't meant to be. Losing wickets in clusters hindered our progress. We need to focus on building partnerships rather than rushing the chase. Targeting bowlers and taking our time is vital. Their execution was flawless. Buttler was exceptional, and Brook's innings shifted the momentum. Their partnership was key to stabilizing the innings,' he added.

England Clinches Series with Dominant Victory

At the Rose Bowl Stadium, England delivered a commanding performance, defeating India by 56 runs and securing the five-match T20I series with a 4-0 victory. This loss also resulted in India losing their top ranking in T20I cricket.
