Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea, with two additional announcements expected to follow shortly.
Alongside the arrival of the Brazilian midfielder, INEOS have also finalised deals for Karl Darlow, who will serve as backup to Senne Lammens, and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.
The acquisition of the Belgian midfielder came as a surprise, and further reinforcements appear likely. The Red Devils are aiming to bring in at least one more midfielder, as well as a left-winger, a backup striker, and a left-back.
In addition to new signings, Manchester United are also working on player exits. Marcus Rashford is expected to depart despite manager Michael Carrick suggesting there could still be an opportunity for a reunion.
Noussair Mazraoui has recently been linked with a potential move away from Old Trafford, and now fellow defender Lisandro Martinez has also emerged as a possible departure.
The Argentine international, currently representing his country at the World Cup, remains a popular figure among United supporters. However, his frequent injury setbacks and occasional disciplinary issues have raised internal concerns.
There had been discussions about deploying the World Cup winner in a defensive midfield role, but those plans ultimately did not progress. Martinez is under contract with the club until 2027, with United holding an option to extend it for an additional year.
As of now, formal contract negotiations have not yet taken place, though the 20-time English league champions are expected to trigger the extension clause to prevent losing the Argentina defender on a free transfer next summer.
According to reports from Chiringuito TV, the former Ajax star has been offered to Atletico Madrid.
While no transfer fee has been disclosed, it is understood that the La Liga side are actively pursuing defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season.
The opportunity to work under Argentine coach Diego Simeone could prove particularly appealing for Lisandro Martinez.
Currently valued at around £34 million, Martinez could attract serious interest from Atletico Madrid, and should they meet that valuation, Manchester United may find it difficult to refuse.
Signed by Erik ten Hag, Martinez is known for his composure in building play from deep positions and his rugged defensive approach. However, United cannot afford further injury issues or recurring suspensions from one of their key defenders.
At present, no official offers have been submitted to Manchester United, indicating that intermediaries may be testing the market. The situation is expected to develop further in the coming weeks.
INEOS will likely need to offload players to maintain financial balance, and with young defender Ayden Heaven pushing for regular first-team opportunities, a sale could be on the cards.
