According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa in a deal worth €41 million.
The 27-year-old is expected to make the move to Old Trafford after the Red Devils triggered his release clause, with a medical examination scheduled over the next few days.
Tielemans, who is currently under contract with Aston Villa until 2028, had been the subject of several extension offers from the club. Manager Unai Emery was keen to remove the release clause from his deal, but the player’s decision now appears to lie elsewhere.
Manchester United, recently back in the UEFA Champions League, continue to strengthen their squad under Michael Carrick’s management. The acquisition of Tielemans follows the earlier signing of Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, marking another step in the club’s ambitious summer transfer window.
After an eye-catching performance during the World Cup and another consistent campaign in the Premier League with Villa, Tielemans is expected to add valuable depth, creativity, and experience to United’s midfield setup.
