In just over a month, Enzo Maresca will take charge of his first official match as Manchester City’s manager. The Premier League champions are set to face Arsenal in the FA Community Shield at the Principality Stadium on Sunday, August 16, following the conclusion of their preseason tour of Asia. Before that curtain-raiser and the start of his maiden preseason with the club, Maresca has now finalised his full coaching setup. Every key element required for Maresca to usher in a new chapter at City is now firmly in place.
Last week, Manchester City officially announced the coaching team that will form part of Enzo Maresca’s backroom staff. The new additions include Roberto Vitiello, Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Denis Silva, and Javier Molina. The only two members from Pep Guardiola’s previous setup who will continue with the club are set-piece coach James French and goalkeeping coach Richard Wright. Each of these coaches has previously worked alongside Maresca, giving the Italian tactician a familiar and trusted team to begin his tenure with at the Etihad.
With his coaching group now complete, Maresca possesses all the necessary resources to begin his journey as Manchester City’s head coach. Surrounded by a team he already knows well, he will be able to implement his methods and playing philosophy more efficiently. This familiarity is expected to help accelerate the adjustment period as the players adapt to his tactical approach and training style.
By assembling an almost entirely new coaching unit, Maresca has injected a renewed sense of energy and direction into Manchester City. The club is entering a fresh era, one that follows the historic and highly successful reign of Pep Guardiola. With only two of Guardiola’s staff members remaining, Maresca enjoys the freedom to shape his own environment and identity within the team. While Guardiola’s influence will always be a significant part of City’s legacy, Maresca’s team is well-positioned to help him establish his own mark and steer the club confidently into the future.
With Manchester City confirming the full list of coaches who will work alongside Enzo Maresca, the groundwork is complete. The Italian manager now has every piece in place to commence his work as the 2026–27 season approaches rapidly.
