What is whey powder?

Whey powder is prepared by drying the liquid released during making cheese from milk. It has high protein content, hence it is legitimately used in bakeries, hotels and many food products. However, its use to artificially increase the amount of SNF and protein in milk or other milk products is considered against the regulations. Such cases are kept in the category of food adulteration.

Search continues for absconding accused

Since the case was registered, all the accused are said to be absconding. Special police teams are continuously conducting raids to arrest him. Along with this, supply chain and financial transactions are also being thoroughly investigated. If the investigation confirms adulteration of milk, then strict action can be taken against the accused under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. There is a provision for heavy fines, ranging from license cancellation to jail sentence depending on the seriousness of the case. At present the officials are waiting for the lab report, after which the picture of the entire matter will become more clear.
