Former West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) president Mamata Banerjee reacted to the resignation of party MLA Madan Mitra. Mamata Banerjee claims that ED had summoned Madan Mitra’s wife and sons on Tuesday, that is why she has resigned. Abhishek Banerjee has nothing to do with his (Mitra’s) decision. He said that those who want to go can go. Mamta Banerjee also took on BJP.
Mamata Banerjee said, ‘BJP wanted me to have a heart attack, but I will live till you end.’ On the other hand, Madan Mitra, who left TMC, said that Abhishek Banerjee was asked to step down for six months, but he refused to do so. He alleged that TMC is limited to serving only Abhishek Banerjee.
However, former CM Mamata Banerjee defended her nephew and said, ‘Abhishek Banerjee has been made an excuse. His family members were summoned. If he wanted, he could have got relief, but he did not run away from the field. The way he has continued to fight, all his shortcomings have been forgiven.
‘I am a part of TMC’
MLA Madan Mitra was considered close to Mamata Banerjee. Apart from being the MLA from Kamarhati, he was the chief whip of TMC. On Wednesday he resigned from all the national and state committees of TMC. After this he joined the rebel group led by Ritabrata Banerjee. After joining the rebel group, Madan Mitra said that I have changed my room, not my house. I am a part of TMC.
TMC is facing the biggest crisis
After the defeat in the assembly elections, TMC is facing its deepest crisis. Out of total 80 MLAs of the party, 59 have rebelled. Of the 28 Lok Sabha MPs, 20 have joined an unnamed party from Tripura. Three out of 10 Rajya Sabha members recently joined BJP after resigning. Apart from Madan Mitra, many other trusted allies have also deserted Mamata Banerjee.
