The Odisha government has made a significant move to safeguard the state's cultural identity and rich Buddhist heritage. On Wednesday, the government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jirang Monastery. The primary aim of this collaboration is to promote spiritual and experiential tourism in the state with the support of the Guru Padmasambhava Buddhist Monastery.

As part of this initiative, various special programs will be developed for tourists and devotees. These will include meditation camps, initiatives related to spiritual education, and activities that provide an immersive experience of monastic life. Additionally, the agreement aims to enhance Buddhist studies and knowledge exchange through international conferences and academic collaborations, ensuring the state's historical significance is recognized on a global scale.

A key component of the agreement is the comprehensive development of the Ratnagiri-Udayagiri-Lalitgiri-Jirang Buddhist circuit. According to officials, this plan will focus on heritage conservation, improving tourist experiences, and emphasizing sustainable tourism. This will ensure better facilities for visitors to these historical sites.

Present at the signing were Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Culture Minister Suryavanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and the President of Jirang Monastery, Gyetruel Jigme Rinpoche. The Deputy Chief Minister remarked that the Buddhist heritage is one of Odisha's most significant cultural treasures. She expressed confidence that this partnership would further establish Odisha as a leading international destination for Buddhist pilgrimage.
