Leeds United are closing in on their second signing of the summer, with Bosnian centre-back Tarik Muharemovic set to join from Sassuolo. The left-footed defender’s move has received an enthusiastic response from Serie A supporters, who view it as a smart and ambitious piece of business by the English club.

Reports from Leedsunited.news indicate that a transfer fee of £34 million has been agreed between the clubs. Personal terms are expected to be finalised soon, with half of the payment reportedly due to Muharemovic’s former side Juventus as part of a sell-on clause.

The Yorkshire club have already brought in Harry Wilson on a free transfer following last summer’s disappointment in missing out on him. Manager Daniel Farke is anticipated to make additional signings after the departures of Karl Darlow to Manchester United and Pascal Struijk to Brighton ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.

Leeds had also been in contact with other defensive targets, including Lloyd Kelly and Ladislav Krejci, before advancing discussions with Muharemovic earlier in the week. Negotiations for the 23-year-old were reported to be scheduled for Tuesday.

Italian football enthusiasts have taken to online platforms to describe the acquisition as a major coup for Leeds. One admirer called it a “statement signing” that should energise supporters at Elland Road, while others praised Muharemovic as one of Serie A’s standout defenders last season, highlighting his composure and tactical intelligence—qualities that align well with Farke’s system.

The £34 million fee would make Muharemovic Leeds United’s second most expensive signing in history, behind Georginio Rutter’s record transfer from Hoffenheim in 2023.

The defender is expected to sign a five-year contract running until the summer of 2031. His reported wages are around £3 million annually, which equates to approximately £57,000 per week.
