New Delhi. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that during the Kargil war, Indian troops recaptured every peak, hill and bunker from enemy control. Their victory is a symbol of the country’s unwavering determination to face with full force any hostile gaze on its soil, identity and honour.

Let us tell you that the 13-day memorial yatra i.e. ‘Shaurya Vijay Yatra’ organized on the 27th anniversary of Operation Vijay in 1999 will see the participation of 28 riders. This Shaurya Vijay Yatra has started from 14th July and will continue till 26th July. The Yatra will cover a distance of 1,900 km, passing through the difficult terrain of the Northern Himalayas, to honor the courage, determination and supreme sacrifice of the Indian heroes who ensured victory in the Kargil War. Rajnath Singh said this last Tuesday while inaugurating a motorcade procession from the National War Memorial in Delhi to the Kargil War Memorial, Dras, in which soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families will participate. Apart from this, he said that during the journey, the riders will carry an urn of “sacred soil of the National War Memorial”, which will be dedicated in the memory of the martyrs in Kargil.
Rajnath Singh said, “When the soil of the National War Memorial meets the soil of Kargil i.e. Dras Memorial, it will symbolize the confluence of the reverence of the present generation of the country and the courage of the country’s heroes.” He paid tribute to all those brave soldiers of the country, who are still revered and respected by armies around the world. Apart from this, he said that at a temperature of minus 40 degrees Celsius and at an altitude of about 20,000 feet, our soldiers achieved their objectives with courage and determination and maintained the honor of the tricolor.
The Defense Minister expressed his gratitude to all the Indian heroes, including Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra, Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, Subedar-Major Yogendra Singh Yadav and Subedar-Major Sanjay Kumar, who made incomparable contribution in achieving victory in the war.
