A family from Punjab risked everything to improve the future of their daughter. Parents sold their land and sent 24 year old Kirandeep Kaur to London for studies. After completing his studies, he got a work permit and his life slowly started coming back on track. Just a few weeks ago she also became a mother. The family felt that now their daughter’s dream has been fulfilled.
But this happiness could not last long. Kirandeep was brutally stabbed to death in London. Her husband was also injured in the attack. Now the news of the death of the daughter whose family had sold all their land for a better future has put the entire family in deep shock.
Why did the dream remain incomplete?
Kirandeep Kaur, 24, a resident of Piddi village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab, was sent to Britain by her parents with big dreams. He had sold his entire agricultural land in the hope that his daughter would get a good job abroad and help the family. But now the same daughter was stabbed to death in London. The family is in shock after this news. The saddest thing is that Kirandeep became a mother just a few weeks ago.
When did you go to UK?
Kirandeep had gone to UK about two years ago on student visa. Later she got a work permit and started working there. The family was confident that the daughter’s future was now secure and that she would be a support to her siblings in the future.
How did happiness turn into mourning?
According to the family, Kirandeep had given birth to a child just a few weeks ago. There was an atmosphere of happiness in the house. But on Sunday there was a knife attack at his house in Hayes area of London. Kirandeep died in this attack, while her husband was also injured. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Kirandeep’s parents say that their daughter was attacked after entering her room. The family suspects that it could be a racial attack. He has demanded from the government to give strict punishment to the culprits and bring the daughter’s body to India.
Why was Kirandeep murdered?
London’s Metropolitan Police has arrested 44-year-old Daniel Sean James. A case of murder, attempt to murder and possession of a knife has been registered against him. Police say that till now no evidence has been found to consider it as a hate crime, but investigation is being done from every aspect. Neighbors say that Kirandeep was a very cheerful girl. The local Sikh community has also expressed grief over this incident and said that Kirandeep’s family should get justice soon.
