Lucknow. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk is on hunger strike at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Today is the 19th day of his hunger strike. Due to the long ongoing strike, his weight has reduced by about 9 kg. The team of doctors is continuously monitoring his physical condition. At the same time, opposition leaders are appealing to Sonam Wangchuk to end the strike. Amidst all this, former minister Swami Prasad Maurya has also appealed to him to end the hunger strike.

Swami Prasad Maurya said, Sonam Wangchuk has been sitting on strike at Jantar Mantar for the last 18 days. Their condition is becoming pathetic every day. The doctors are bringing the details of his health to the notice of the government every day, but the government is paying close attention to it. Despite Sonam Wangchuk’s deteriorating condition, it is not considered appropriate to inquire about his well-being.

He appealed to Sonam Wangchuk to break her fast in the national interest. He said, the government from which you are expecting dialogue and sensitivity, instead of listening to the voice of the people, it believes in suppressing it. Even the British government was forced to negotiate on Mahatma Gandhi’s fast, but today the government claiming to be a democracy is not ready to even listen to a respected social worker of the country.
