On Wednesday evening, a crucial meeting took place involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh, BJP President Nitin Nabin, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This gathering is expected to bring an end to the anticipation surrounding major organizational changes within the BJP. The meeting occurred just a day before Prime Minister Modi's scheduled visit to Punjab on July 17 and shortly after his return from an overseas trip.
This meeting followed a discussion between Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Amit Shah on Tuesday, which focused on preparations for the upcoming assembly elections and organizational matters.
Focus on Finalizing New Leadership Team
According to sources, the discussions aimed to finalize a new team of officials at the central organizational level. The meeting lasted several hours, fueling speculation that the announcement of Nitin Nabin's new organizational team could occur within this week. Notably, multiple rounds of discussions have taken place in recent weeks to finalize changes and appointments within the party's organizational structure. However, final discussions with the Prime Minister were pending due to his international engagements.
Inclusion of New Faces and Experienced Leaders
Sources indicate that the proposed reshuffle may include both seasoned senior leaders and several new faces. Appointments are expected across various units of the organization, including the party's central media wing. Political circles are also buzzing with the possibility of significant changes within the central cabinet following these organizational adjustments. This is due to some ministers being assigned organizational responsibilities in different states, leading to vacancies at the ministerial level and raising expectations for new appointments.
Emphasis on Representation and Expertise
Leadership is anticipated to prioritize greater representation for women and young leaders, while also incorporating experts from various fields and individuals with substantial organizational experience. It is expected that the restructuring will be completed before the Parliament's monsoon session, which is scheduled to run from July 20 to August 13.
