Maruti SUV: Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the facelift model of its popular compact SUV Brezza soon. The teaser and recent spy pictures have revealed many important updates to its design, features and engine. The new Brezza is expected to have sporty exterior, turbo-petrol engine, new features and better driving experience. The teaser only gives a partial glimpse of the new Brezza facelift, but it hints at several important changes.
New features will be added to the cabin
The basic layout of the interior is likely to remain the same, but the feature list will be made more premium than before. According to reports, new features like ventilated front seats can be included for the first time in the facelift model, which will improve both driving and passenger comfort.
Major changes in engine and powertrain
The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will be retained in the new Brezza facelift. This engine will be available with manual and automatic transmission options.
However, the biggest change could be seen in the form of the 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine which is currently used in the Francox. There is also a possibility of getting a new 6-speed manual gearbox, which has been seen during testing. It is expected that this turbo engine will give power of 99 bhp and torque of 147 Nm.
In comparison, the current 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine generates power of 101.6 bhp and torque of 139 Nm. Although the power difference is not huge, the turbo engine makes peak torque available at around 2,000 rpm, while the naturally aspirated engine makes its maximum torque at 4,300 rpm. This is the reason why the acceleration and driving performance of the new Turbo Brezza can be felt much better.
Apart from this, the company can also provide a new underbody CNG storage system in CNG variants, which will make the boot space more useful than before.
potential price
Due to new technology, additional features, turbo-petrol engine and new gearbox options, the price of Brezza facelift may increase slightly compared to the current model. However, its final prices will be revealed only at the time of the official launch.
