India had to make a late change to their playing XI for the second ODI v England at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, after keeper-batsman KL Rahul missed out.
Captain Shubman Gill announced at the toss that Rahul was unwell. With him out, India were forced to bring back left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan into their ODI playing XI.
This change comes as India seeks to win the three-match ODI series after a comfortable six-wicket win over England in the first match at Edgbaston. England require a win in Cardiff to level the series at 1-1 and hang on to hopes of winning the final ODI.
Shubman Gill Confirms Rahul's Absence
Gill announced at the toss that Rahul was down with illness and was unable to take the field in the second ODI.
His absence will give Ishan Kishan the chance to step into India's middle-order ranks and, at the same time, also assume the keeping responsibilities.
Besides replacing Rahul, India kept the side that did well in the first game. Similar to the previous game, India will depend heavily on the experienced names of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer, with Jasprit Bumrah leading the attack.
The hosts also drafted in a couple of changes to their playing eleven. Speedster Gus Atkinson came in for Josh Tongue while spinner Liam Dawson was brought in for a new-ball seamer Saqib Mahmood.

India Chase Series Win After Dominant First ODI
In Birmingham, India produced a solid all-round display. They will look to carry that form into the Cardiff one-dayer.
Rohit and Virat fell for cheap scores in the opening ODI. Shubman Gill resumed and continued his rich vein of form to score a fluent 80-run knock before retiring hurt for pain. Shreyas Iyer, who is involved in piling up runs for India, managed to score runs as the hosts fought back.
However, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel held the innings together with an unbroken century stand and guided India to a six-wicket win. Axar was chosen as Player of the Match.
This was India's 1st win on this UK tour, and with this win, India is now 1-0 up in the ODI series. The men in blue will now aim for a win at Cardiff to seal the ODI series win on English soil.
Rahul will be missed due to sickness, but now it is down to Ishan Kishan to put that opportunity to good use and ensure India triumphs in the Cardiff series. England, however, will be eager to recover from this setback and draw the series level with a win at Lord's as well.
