PM Modi to Flag Off Hydrogen Train on 17th July: Indian Railways is going to make a new beginning. The country’s first hydrogen train is now completely ready to run. This train will run on a route of about 90 kilometers between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana, which will take about 2 hours to cover. This train with 10 coaches will stop at about 11 stations on the way. According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag it off on July 17. Special features of hydrogen train

• This train has a total of 10 coaches, which include 8 passenger coaches and 2 power cars.
• Its total capacity is about 2400 kilowatts and about 2600 passengers can travel in it.
• The normal speed of the train will be 75 kilometers per hour.
• According to the Railway Ministry, it is counted among the most powerful hydrogen trains in the world.
• It has been manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) located in Chennai, while its fuel cell system has been manufactured by Tata Advanced Systems.

How does a hydrogen train work?

The technology of hydrogen train is different from normal trains. While a diesel train runs by burning oil and an electric train runs on light from electric wires, in a hydrogen train, hydrogen gas is filled in the tanks. A special plant has been built for this in Jind, where hydrogen is prepared by separating water with the help of electricity. After this, this hydrogen is mixed with oxygen in the air in the fuel cell, which generates electricity. This electricity runs the motor of the train and the train moves forward.

Why is it better for the environment?

• The biggest advantage of hydrogen train is that it does not cause pollution.
• In this process neither smoke nor harmful gases like carbon dioxide are released.
• Only water steam and a little heat come out of the train.
• Therefore it is also called zero emission train. It is much safer for the environment than diesel trains and will also prove helpful in reducing global warming.
• With the operation of this train, India has joined the list of countries where hydrogen trains are running, which already includes countries like Germany, China and France.
