The ODI career of Indian cricket team’s experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja now appears to be reaching its final stages. According to a report, keeping in mind the upcoming ODI World Cup, the selection committee is preparing to make Akshar Patel the team’s head spin bowling all-rounder. It is believed that the team management now wants to show more confidence in the young players as part of future plans and that is why the chances of Jadeja’s comeback are continuously decreasing.
In the first ODI match played against England in Birmingham, Akshar Patel further strengthened his claim with an excellent all-round performance. Bowling first, he gave a brilliant performance in his ODI career by taking 4 wickets. After this, he scored an unbeaten half-century and gave India an easy victory by six wickets. In the current foreign tours, the Indian team is relying on the pair of Washington Sundar and Akshar Patel, while specialist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is continuously out of the playing eleven.
Selectors ignored Jadeja’s return
According to the report, the selectors are no longer looking at Ravindra Jadeja as the first-choice spin all-rounder of the ODI team. The team management wants to give priority to such a player who can make a strong contribution in bowling as well as batting and make a place among the top seven batsmen. A BCCI source claimed that Jadeja’s bowling in white ball cricket has not been as effective as before. This was the reason why he was given a chance in the Champions Trophy 2025 keeping in mind the spin-friendly pitches of Dubai.
