A little injury break happened for the Indian and the English player in Cardiff after Shreyas Iyer accidentally hit a resting bird in the field. Sophia Gardens is hosting England and India for the second ODI of the ongoing series, and after winning the toss, the hosts went to field first.
And in the 33rd over, second ball, the bird got inured. Saquib Mahmood, the English bowler, bowled a shortish delivery. Shreyas aimed to guide it towards the covers. And in the way was resting a bird. The ball ruffling down hit the bird, unsettling it.
The game halted. Mahmood walked to Shreyas for a quick friendly chat and a hug, and the umpire was seen chatting too. Meanwhile, Jacob Bethhell ran in for rescue. He picked up the injured bird and ran towards the boundary. A lady, seemingly a nurse, took the bird from Bethell. From the gallery, the fans gave a loud applause to Bethell for his kindness.

Washington Sundar's hamstring trouble
However, at the same time, Washington Sundar looked for some thigh treatment. Actually, while Shreyas Iyer and Washington Sundar looked for a single, Washington was pretty slow. This made Shreyas think that they were probably looking for a single. But then Washington looked back for another and Shreyas immediately said a 'no."
However, while the field was busy with the bird, Washi was seen lying on the ground with a physio looking after his thighs and taping it, looking like a hamstring issue. Even though Washi continued to bat, his stay was limited to the over's fourth ball.
Notably, after Virat Kohli's dismissal, there has hardly been a single batter who could form a partnership with the lone fighter Shreyas Iyer. Iyer has reached his half-century, but he consecutively lost Axar Patel and Shivam Dube. Gurnoor Brar was giving a good company, but then he got a good smack on his hand from Jofra Archer. And then a mistimed shot ended that too.
