Arsenal have reportedly secured their first signing of the upcoming summer transfer window, agreeing a £34 million deal with Belgian club Club Brugge for winger Christos Tzolis, according to The Athletic.
The 24-year-old Greek international has been one of the standout players in Belgium over the past two seasons, netting 43 goals in 108 matches for Brugge. His impressive form also included 29 assists during the 2025/26 campaign, attracting attention from several top European sides.
The report suggests that Arsenal are currently in the final stages of completing the transfer for Tzolis, who previously had a brief spell in the Premier League with Norwich City during the 2021/22 season.
Tzolis was previously linked with Crystal Palace last summer, but Brugge turned down an offer from the London club, and the winger went on to extend his contract until 2029. However, it now appears that he will not see out that deal as he prepares for a switch to North London.
Arsenal’s move for Tzolis comes after the Gunners were told Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz is unavailable for transfer. Consequently, Mikel Arteta’s side shifted focus to the Greek winger as they aim to add more dynamism and depth to their attacking options.
The Athletic also notes that Tzolis’s signing is “independent of any ongoing interest” in Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, who remains on Arsenal’s list of potential targets.
Capable of playing on either flank, Tzolis has primarily featured on the left wing for Brugge, where he often cuts inside onto his stronger right foot. Should the deal go through, he will likely compete with Gabriel Martinelli for a starting role.
The transfer also follows Leandro Trossard’s departure from Arsenal earlier this week, after the Belgian completed a £15.3 million move to Turkish side Besiktas. The 31-year-old played a key role in Arsenal’s Premier League title win in 2025/26 and their run to the UEFA Champions League final, but his exit signals Arsenal’s intent to refresh their squad with younger talent.
While it remains to be seen how quickly Tzolis adapts to the Premier League, his profile suggests he could be a direct replacement for Trossard, who made 21 league starts last season, contributing six goals and six assists.
