New Delhi, 16 July. Thursday was the 19th day of the hunger strike of education reformer and environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is fasting unto death at Jantar Mantar in the national capital. Now politics is also going on regarding his deteriorating condition amid the ongoing movement under the banner of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Along with leaders of various political parties, Bollywood celebrities have also come out openly in their support.
In this sequence, former Chief Minister of Delhi and national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal reached Jantar Mantar this evening to meet Sonam Wangchuk. He targeted the central government over alleged irregularities in the education system, paper leaks and competitive examinations.
Kejriwal said that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should be removed from the post and Sonam Wangchuk, who has worked for education reforms, should be made the education minister of the country. He said that there is a need for comprehensive and revolutionary changes in the existing education system.
The AAP chief said that Sonam Wangchuk has been fasting unto death for the last 19 days not for herself but for the future of crores of students and youth of the country. Those who are agitating to demand reforms in the education system are fighting for the future of the country and should be respected.
Rakesh Tikait targeted the center
Meanwhile, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, while addressing the protesters at the protest site, said that the present government is a dictator. She wants the agitator to die. There is also a lot of concern about the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a fast for 19 days.
This movement of students can move forward only through ideological revolution.
Tikait said that if the government does not accept the demands of the Cockroach Janata Party, then social people should come forward and support them. The movement carried out by the students here can move forward only through ideological revolution. The biggest revolution in the world is ideological revolution. Now the ideological revolution has come and it is expected that victory will be achieved soon.
Saurabh Bhardwaj’s appeal to opposition parties for the proposed Parliament march on 20th July
Meanwhile, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj said that whoever new (Education Minister) comes, he may also not do a good job. The question that was in everyone’s mind was… just don’t bring Nitin Gadkari or Smriti Irani in place of Dharmendra Pradhan. If you make a scientist like Sonam Wangchuk the education minister of the country, it will send a strong message to the whole world. Bhardwaj said, ‘People see a glimpse of Gandhiji in Sonam Wangchuk. He is a person who is doing ‘Satyagraha’, ready to sacrifice his life for the country and trying to get his demands met by the government through non-violence. We also support Arvind Kejriwal’s point. We want everyone – opposition parties, student leaders, different organisations, social groups – to come on the 20th and march towards Parliament.
SP MP Dimple Yadav also met Wangchuk
SP MP Dimple Yadav reached Jantar Mantar to meet Sonam Wangchuk and addressed the protesters. Saluting the determination of Sonam Wangchuk and the courage of the students who are on hunger strike, Dimple Yadav said that Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh Yadav stand strongly with the youth and urged the students to never consider themselves alone in this fight. Accusing the government of trying to weaken democracy by creating an atmosphere of fear, he described the government as insensitive and indifferent to the concerns of the youth.
