According to Euronewscameras recorded two masked individuals appearing outside the property on Wednesday and attempting to climb over the surrounding wall.

Private security personnel quickly noticed the suspicious activity, activated the alarm system, and notified the Catalan regional police, the Mossos d’Esquadra.

The two suspects fled the scene before they could break inside and steal any belongings.

Catalan police have since launched a formal investigation to review the surveillance footage and track down the suspects.

Yamal’s luxurious villa, on the outskirts of Barcelona, was previously owned by former Barcelona defender and Spain international Gerard Piqué.

Before heading to the World Cup, the 19-year-old forward had showcased the villa in a video posted on social media.

This failed burglary reflects a growing trend of football stars becoming targets for professional burglars.

These groups often monitor match schedules closely to strike when players are away from home, specifically targeting luxury watches, jewelry, cash and other high-value assets.

Yamal is not the only Barcelona player to have been targeted recently, according to AS.

In February, center-back Pau Cubarsí had his home broken into while he was away training with the team. The thieves managed to steal several items, including a luxury watch.

A few days after that incident, goalkeeper Joan Garcia was also burglarized while playing in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

The thieves stole cash and jewelry before fleeing the scene. According to local media reports, the value of the stolen items in each incident was approximately €6,000 (US$6,900).

Investigations suggest that the two previous incidents were likely not carried out by the same group.

However, police have noted that criminal gangs are increasingly studying players’ match schedules and family activities to take advantage of the times that they are not home.

The wave of burglaries targeting footballers has prompted Spanish clubs to strengthen their security measures and tighten coordination between private security forces and local police.

Yamal remains focused on the biggest milestone of his young career, his first World Cup final against defending champions Argentina on Sunday (local time).

The forward played the full 90 minutes in the victory against France in the semifinals.
