Ather Community Day— Ather Energy, India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has officially announced that it will launch the first production electric scooter based on the all-new EL platform globally on its fourth annual Community Day (Ather Community Day 2026) to be held in Bengaluru on 29 August 2026. This new scooter is expected to be the most affordable model in the company’s lineup so far, which will compete directly with conventional and other electric scooters present in the domestic market.

Ather EL01: These important information came out during testing

Recently this scooter has been seen during testing on the roads. It is clear from the leaked pictures and patent filings that its final look is going to be very similar to the EL01 concept shown in 2025. The testing model has a rectangular headlight mounted on the handlebar and a very attractive and wide LED DRL strip in the front apron. Apart from this, the scooter has a long single-piece flat seat and large legroom (floorboard) for a comfortable ride.

This new scooter is more practical and designed for family use than the older models. It is expected to have enough space under the seat to easily accommodate two helmets. Talking about mechanicals, during testing it was seen to have a 14-inch front wheel and 12-inch rear wheel, in which a combination of disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear has been given.

Ather Energy’s new EL platform is extremely flexible, which can support battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh in the future. The company is targeting India’s largest mass-market segment through this upcoming scooter. According to automotive experts, the ex-showroom price of this new scooter is expected to be between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh. Additionally, if the company implements its ‘Battery-as-a-Service’ (BaaS) scheme, its starting price could be even lower, which will directly provide the biggest relief to middle-class customers.
