- Hydrogen train journey for just 5 rupees!
- Cheaper fare than platform ticket
- Jind-Sonepat hydrogen train fare announced
Narendra Modi On Hydrogen Train : The country’s first hydrogen train is all set to run between Jind and Sonepat in Haryana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Today (July 17, 2026) the train has been flagged off and will soon be ready for passengers. The train schedule has also been announced, and the journey of this train is very cheap. This train will run between Jind and Sonepat railway stations. The train is equipped with several safety systems to detect hydrogen leakage, heat, fire and smoke.
Unlike conventional electric trains, this train does not draw power from overhead power lines. It generates electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen inside the train itself. This process produces only water vapor and heat.
No noise, no smoke; Hydrogen train will run for the first time in the country; Prime Minister Modi will show the green flag
According to the railways, the train is similar to the old-fashioned steam and diesel trains, the only difference being that instead of burning coal or diesel, it generates electricity from hydrogen and emits no smoke. That is why this train is known as the cleanest form of rail transport.
The train will run at a speed of 75 kmph as against the design speed of 110 kmph. It will run on the 89 km route between Jind and Sonepat. Globally, hydrogen trains are still in their infancy. Germany was the first country to launch such a train, while countries like France, Italy, China and Japan are also working on it. However, such trains there have only two to four coaches.
come on In an Indian train It has 10 coaches and can carry approximately 2,600 passengers, making it the world’s largest hydrogen train. The country’s largest railway hydrogen refueling project has also been set up at Jind, where complete facilities are available for hydrogen refueling of trains. In future, Railways is also planning to run hydrogen trains on historical routes like Kalka-Shimla. Rapid electrification over the past 12 years has significantly reduced reliance on diesel, and now more than 99 percent of broad gauge lines run on electricity.
Great travel on the cheap
Also traveling by hydrogen train will be cheaper than platform ticket. The starting fare of this train is just Rs.5, which can be used from one station to another. A Jind to Sonepat ticket can cost passengers Rs.25.
