Rajat Ruhal won bronze medal
Rajat Ruhal won the bronze medal in the men’s 125 kg category. Silver got a walkover due to America’s Mason Parris withdrawing from the competition due to injury. Earlier, Rajat had lost to Poland’s Kamil Koscholek in the quarter-finals, but reached the bronze medal match by defeating South Korea’s Gwanuk Kim 8-4 in the repechage.
In the same category, Dinesh Dhankhar was eliminated in the quarter-finals. Apart from this, Puneet Kumar (92 kg) and Olympian Deepak Punia (97 kg) were out of the competition after losing their respective preliminary matches.
India’s medal count reaches five
With this performance, India’s medal tally in the Budapest Ranking Series has increased to five. Earlier, Aman Sehrawat (57 kg) had won the gold medal, while Deepak (61 kg) and Vishal Kaliramana (65 kg) had won bronze medals.
Now India’s eyes will be on World Championship bronze medalist Final Panghal, who will challenge in the women’s 53 kg category on Saturday. This tournament is the fourth and final stage of this season’s United World Wrestling Championship Series.
