Mohamed Salah’s representative has revealed that a decision regarding the star forward’s next destination will be announced ‘very soon’.
The Egyptian international is currently a free agent after parting ways with Liverpool by mutual agreement and is now considering the next chapter of his illustrious career.
The 34-year-old has long been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with the league’s chief executive expressing interest in bringing him to Saudi Arabia as far back as December.
“Mohamed Salah is welcome in the Saudi League, but it is the clubs that are responsible for negotiating with players,” said Omar Mugharbel during the World Football Summit.
He added, “For sure, Salah is one of them [a target].”
Aside from interest from Saudi Arabia, clubs such as Fenerbahce, as well as teams in the United States, Italy, and England, have reportedly shown an interest in signing the forward.
Salah netted 12 goals in 41 appearances last season, concluding his Liverpool career with an impressive tally of 257 goals across all competitions — the third-highest in the club’s history. He also holds the record as the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history.
His agent, Ramy Abbas, offered an update on Salah’s situation, stating that no discussions will take place with clubs merely for publicity.
“We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season, but we may know very soon,” Abbas stated.
He further added, “It is not our style to hold talks with clubs that Mohamed would not wish to play for, just for the sake of making noise.”
