Shravan begins on the second day of the full moon of Ashadha. Since the full moon of this month falls on the Shravan Nakshatra, this month is also called the month of Shravan. Hence the name Shravan. During the month of Shravan, Lord Shiva, the God of Gods, is worshipped and a water-abhishek is performed. It is said that if you offer a pot of water to the Shivalinga every day during the month of Shravan, Lord Shiva becomes pleased and fulfills your wishes. According to the Hindu calendar, the first day of the Shravan month falls on Pratipada Tithi. This year, Pratipada Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Shravan month will begin on July 29 at 8:05 pm and end on July 30 at 9:30 pm. Accordingly, the first sunrise of Shravan month will occur on July 30 at 5:41 am. Accordingly, the first day of Shravan month falls on Thursday, July 30.

Auspicious Time for the First Day of Shravan 2026 

The first day of the Shravan month is marked by Ayushmaan Yoga and Shravan Nakshatra. Brahma Muhurta is from 4:18 AM to 4:59 AM. You can bathe and perform puja during this Muhurta. Brahma Muhurta is the best time for bathing. The auspicious time for the first day of Shravan month, i.e. Abhijit Muhurta, is from 12:00 PM to 12:54 PM. Nishit Muhurta is from 12:07 PM to 12:49 PM. Amritkaal is from 6:24 AM to 8:09 AM. Vijay Muhurta is from 2:43 PM to 3:37 PM.

When should Jalabhishek be performed on the first day of Shravan month?

If you wish to perform the Jalabhishek of Shivalinga on the first day of Shravan month, you can do so during the Brahma Muhurta. Furthermore, the Shubh (best) time is from 5:41 AM to 7:23 AM. The Labh (prosperity) time is from 12:27 PM to 2:09 PM, and the Amrit (best) time is from 2:09 PM to 3:50 PM. All of these times are valid.
