PM Modi Jalandhar Speech: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited the newly developed Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and took stock of the modern facilities provided for the passengers here. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu were also present on this occasion.
Addressing a huge public meeting, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘Modernization of Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station is an important step towards the country’s resolve of a developed India. The newly designed railway stations are not limited to the convenience of passengers only, but they are also becoming centers to promote local culture, heritage and economic activities.”
Stations are being developed as per the identity
He said, ‘Jalandhar Cantt station has been equipped with modern facilities and its capacity has also been expanded. Changes are also being seen in many other stations including Anandpur Sahib, Muktsar and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. The stations being developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme are also showcasing local traditions and cultural identity.”
Referring to the sports tradition of Jalandhar, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘The railway station here reflects the sports culture and folk heritage of Punjab. Anandpur Sahib station mirrors the Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, while other stations are also being developed in line with the local identity.”
Questions raised on law and order of Punjab
In his address, the Prime Minister targeted the state government regarding the law and order situation in Punjab. He alleged, ‘There is an atmosphere of insecurity among the people in Punjab due to crime and gang activities. Incidents like ransom being demanded from businessmen and attacks on police establishments are a matter of concern. The drug problem also remains a serious challenge in the state and the future of the youth is being affected.”
The Prime Minister also cornered the opposition parties on the issue of corruption. He said that in many cases the accused are out on bail and some leaders have faced serious charges. Referring to a case in Delhi, he said that it is not appropriate to question the decisions of the court.
Many new rail services started from Jalandhar
PM Modi said, ‘The central government is continuously working for the development of Punjab. Despite there being no BJP government in the state, the NDA government at the Center is leaving no stone unturned in taking forward connectivity and infrastructure projects.”
He said, ‘Many new rail services have been started from Jalandhar. The new rail service started between Amritsar and Kashi will provide travel convenience to the followers of Guru Ravidas Ji.” Apart from this, projects like new railway line between Daulatpur Chowk and Kartoli, Ludhiana Bypass Project and a part of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway were also mentioned.
Railway stations are symbols of India’s heritage and modernity.
The Prime Minister praised the ‘Welcome Clean’ initiative of the people of Jalandhar and said that it is an example of civic participation and sense of duty. He also paid tribute to the great leader of the Sikh community, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri, on the 100th anniversary of his martyrdom.
PM Modi said that the railway stations developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme are a symbol of the confluence of India’s heritage and modernity. He expressed confidence that these projects will give a new impetus to the development of the entire country including Punjab.
