The main talking point on Friday revolves around Michael Olise’s firm desire to join Real Madrid, a development that has reportedly taken many by surprise.
Although both sides have shown mutual interest for quite some time, the Frenchman’s proposed switch to Spain has always been viewed as challenging due to his crucial role in Bayern Munich’s plans.
Initially, it was believed that the only way for Olise to make the move would be by directly notifying Bayern Munich of his intention to leave. Now, however, the player seems determined to push for the transfer and has already informed his teammates of his decision.
According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Real Madrid plan to submit an official offer for Olise once the ongoing FIFA World Cup concludes. Nevertheless, there appears to be an important condition attached to this move.
The report indicates that Real Madrid have not ruled out the possibility of selling their star winger Vinicius Jr. during the upcoming transfer window. The Spanish giants are said to be open to parting ways with the Brazilian forward as contract negotiations have reached an impasse.
Should Vinicius depart, it would effectively clear the path for Olise’s arrival, allowing Real Madrid to move forward with their recruitment plans.
While Vinicius’ exit is not considered a prerequisite for signing Olise, it is expected to significantly ease the process and make the transfer more feasible.
Despite the current uncertainty, both Vinicius and Real Madrid are understood to be keen on continuing their partnership. However, differences over financial terms have stalled contract renewal discussions.
Club president Florentino Perez faces a major decision in this regard. Reports from yesterday suggested a notable gap between the salary Real Madrid offered Vinicius in their latest proposal and the player’s own demands, which reportedly range from €6 million to €10 million annually.
If no agreement is reached soon, Real Madrid are prepared to sell Vinicius this summer rather than risk losing him for free next year.
At the same time, the club recognises that Vinicius was one of the standout performers at the FIFA World Cup and would be reluctant to see him leave given his importance to the team.
From a sporting perspective, replacing Vinicius with Olise would be an unusual scenario, as it would mean strengthening one flank while weakening the other.
Ultimately, the decision now rests heavily on Florentino Perez’s shoulders — a defining moment that could shape Real Madrid’s direction for years to come.
