
New Delhi, 17 July. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan released the book ‘RSS @100: A Century of Service, Unity and Sacrifice’ by Shyam Jaju and Anupam Trivedi at Upa Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has strengthened the ideals of service, unity and national consciousness in the last century and has inspired generations through selfless service and nation building.
RSS’s Shatabdi Yatra described as inspirational
The Vice President said that it is a personal honor for him to attend the release ceremony of this book published on the centenary anniversary of RSS. Referring to a Tamil poem written on the Sangh, he said that in it the organization has been compared to the sacred Ganga, which flows continuously for the welfare of others and is a symbol of the spirit of service.
Service, Unity and sacrifice were said to be the cornerstone of the organization.
CP Radhakrishnan said that the title of the book reflects the basic spirit of the Sangh. According to him, service symbolizes selfless dedication towards the society, unity is the unifying force of India’s diversity and sacrifice conveys the message that lasting institutions are built only through dedication and sustained efforts.
Emphasis on the role of branches
The Vice President said that RSS works for character building and leadership development through its daily shakhas. Referring to the book, he described the branch as ‘the workshop of the soul’, where the energy of the youth is molded into the national character.
Mentioned about national consciousness and preservation of cultural heritage
He said that RSS has strengthened the sense of pride towards India’s cultural heritage, diverse traditions, languages and spiritual ideas. The centenary year is an opportunity to honor the dedication of lakhs of volunteers and their contribution in nation building.
Mentioned about Prime Minister Modi’s journey
Referring to the chapter ‘A Swayamsevak Prime Minister: Modi Era’ of the book, the Vice President said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kept ‘Nation First’ and ‘Service’ at the center of governance in his journey from Swayamsevak to Pradhan Sevak. He said that this is a reflection of the RSS’s ideology of selfless service and nation building.
Remembered early public life with Rajnath Singh
Recalling his early public life with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, CP Radhakrishnan said that both of them started public life as grassroots workers. He said that just as Ganga turns from a small stream to a huge river, in the same way RSS also grew from a small organization to one of the largest voluntary organizations in the world.
Many dignitaries were present in the program
Many dignitaries including Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta, Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts President Ram Bahadur Rai, RSS Kshetra Sanghchalak Pawan Jindal, co-authors Shyam Jaju and Anupam Trivedi were present in the program.
