Indian Army JAG Entry 2027: The Indian Army has initiated the application process for the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme (125th Course). Through this recruitment drive, unmarried male and female candidates holding an LLB degree will have the opportunity to become officers in the Indian Army's JAG Branch under the Short Service Commission (SSC).

The application process officially commenced on July 17, 2026. Interested candidates can apply via the official Indian Army website. Training for selected candidates will begin in April 2027 at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.

**How many vacancies are there?**
The Indian Army has announced recruitment for a total of 10 posts under the JAG Entry 125th Course. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for these positions. The final allocation of seats will be based on the Army's administrative and operational requirements.

**What is the educational qualification?**
Candidates must possess an LLB degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of 55% marks. This can be either a three-year LLB course or a five-year integrated law course.

Appearing for the CLAT PG 2026 exam is mandatory. Initial selection of candidates will be based on their CLAT PG 2026 scores. CLAT scores from any other year will not be valid.

Candidates must also be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India or any State Bar Council.

**What is the age limit?** Candidates must be unmarried to apply for this recruitment. Additionally, the candidate's age must be between 21 and 27 years as of January 1, 2027. This means the candidate must not have been born before January 2, 2000, or after January 1, 2006.

What is the selection process?
The recruitment process will be conducted in several stages.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CLAT PG 2026 scores.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an SSB interview.
The SSB interview will be held at selection centers located in Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, and Jalandhar.

Candidates who succeed in the SSB interview will undergo a medical examination.
The final merit list will be prepared solely based on the marks obtained in the SSB interview.

What is the tenure of service?
Candidates selected under the JAG Entry scheme will be granted a Short Service Commission for 10 years, which may be extended by up to 4 years based on requirements and eligibility. Subsequently, eligible officers may also have the opportunity to secure a Permanent Commission.

Physical standards must also be met.
Candidates must meet prescribed physical standards before commencing training in the Army.

Additionally, knowledge of squats, lunges, and basic swimming is considered beneficial.

What is the salary?
During the 49-week training period at OTA Chennai, candidates will receive a stipend of ₹56,100 per month.

Upon being commissioned as a Lieutenant, the salary will range from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month under Pay Level-10. In addition, a Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹15,500 per month and other allowances will be provided. According to the Indian Army, the total annual CTC can range from approximately ₹17 lakh to ₹18 lakh.
