As Didier Deschamps prepares to lead France for the final time this Saturday night (11 p.m.) against England, Kylian Mbappé has paid a heartfelt tribute to his long-time coach.
This Saturday’s World Cup third-place playoff between France and England marks the end of an era, as Deschamps will step down to make way for Zinédine Zidane. Just hours before the decisive match against the Three Lions, Mbappé took to social media to share an emotional message dedicated to his manager.
On X, Mbappé wrote: “Today marks your final dance. You, who have given us so much. We should have given you a better ending, but we fell short. It’s hard to put into words what you’ve brought to us over these 14 years, as you have been a cornerstone in rebuilding this team. Not everyone has always recognised your greatness, but time and history will do justice to your legacy...” he expressed with emotion.
He continued: “Thank you for giving me the chance and the honour to represent my country on the biggest stage for so many years. I feel privileged to have shared this journey with one of the greatest legends of our nation, and I will forever cherish the wonderful memories of everything we have experienced and accomplished together.”
Mbappé concluded with a warm farewell: “I wish you all the best in your new adventure, and once again, thank you for all that you have given to this jersey that means so much to us.” His message is sure to touch the heart of ‘DD,’ who earlier received a heartfelt embrace from his number 10 after scoring against Sweden in the round of 16.
