Spain and Argentina’s final preparations for the upcoming World Cup final were disrupted on Saturday after severe thunderstorms forced both teams to cancel their scheduled training sessions.
Just over 24 hours before the much-anticipated final, a lightning storm swept through the area, compelling both squads to adjust their plans.
Argentina were the first to be impacted by the adverse weather conditions. The team had to postpone their field training and instead carry out a lighter session indoors, where the players engaged in a cycling workout at the gym.
Later in the day, Spain, commonly known as ‘La Roja’, also found themselves unable to take to the pitch due to the ongoing storm. Their training session was called off to ensure the safety of the players and staff.
As a result of the cancellation, journalists who had travelled to cover Spain’s open training session were asked to leave the venue after the team’s plans were officially suspended.
The unexpected weather interruption comes at a crucial time, with both teams fine-tuning their tactical approaches and fitness levels ahead of Sunday’s World Cup final showdown.
