Tezzbuzz Desk- The political controversy has intensified over the case of alleged theft and financial irregularities to offerings in the Ram temple of Ayodhya. Congress has raised questions on the Central Government and the Bharatiya Janata Party on this issue and has demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct an independent and comprehensive investigation into the matter. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge have written a letter to the Prime Minister demanding an investigation into the financial affairs of the Trust and making all the accounts public.
Congress leaders said in their letter that lakhs of devotees from across the country have donated to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust with faith and trust. In such a situation, an impartial investigation into any dispute to offerings is necessary, so that devotees can get information about how the money, gold, silver and other items given by them are being used.
Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge urged the Prime Minister to immediately conduct an independent inquiry into the financial affairs of the Trust. He said that the scope of investigation should include the management of cash, gold, silver and all other types of offerings. There has also been a demand to make the investigation report and financial records of the trust public. Congress leaders alleged that the Prime Minister’s silence in this matter is not acceptable. He said that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure transparency and if irregularities are found at any level, action should be taken against the culprits. He said that no person should get protection on the basis of his position or influence.
In their letter, Rahul Gandhi and Kharge also mentioned the formation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. He said the formation of the trust was announced in Parliament following the directions of the Supreme Court and its members were appointed by the government. Congress leaders alleged that many members associated with the trust have links with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vishwa Hindu Parishad and its affiliated organizations. However, an official response from the Trust in this matter is awaited. Congress leaders said that the sentiments of crores of devotees associated with the temple are attached to this matter. He called on the Prime Minister to fix accountability and ensure that the trust of donors is maintained. The letter said that the trust’s credibility depends on transparency and impartial action.
At the same time, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is already active to investigate this entire matter. It is alleged that there have been financial irregularities in the donations received by the Ram Mandir Trust. The SIT is investigating the case and after completion of the investigation will submit its report under the relevant judicial process. Ram temple is a subject to the faith of crores of people of the country. In such a situation, questions raised regarding offerings and financial management have intensified the political debate. While the opposition is demanding an impartial investigation and making the accounts public, now all eyes are on the investigation agency’s report and further action.
